Stamped & Decorative Concrete in San Antonio

• Stamped concrete. The slab is stamped with rubber mats while still workable, leaving a texture that mimics stone, brick, or plank.
• Integral color. Pigment mixed into the concrete so the color goes all the way through. More consistent, less prone to fading than surface color.
• Acid or water-based stains. Applied to cured concrete for mottled, natural-looking color.
• Broom + border. A simple, cost-effective upgrade — plain broom field with a smooth or stamped border band.
• Exposed aggregate. Top layer of cement washed off to reveal decorative stone.

Getting it right in Texas sun

San Antonio sun is hard on colored concrete. Two things matter more than which pattern you pick:

1. Use integral color, not just surface color. When (not if) the top wears, integral color still shows through. Surface-only color scuffs off in wear lanes.
2. Reseal on schedule. A stamped or stained slab needs a fresh sealer every couple of years. Contractors we match will tell you exactly which sealer they used so you can maintain it.

Timeline

A stamped pour takes about the same time as a plain pour, plus a stamping day. Add another day if the finish includes stain application and sealing. Cure and traffic times are the same as any other concrete slab.

What affects the price

• Pattern complexity — a simple slate stamp is cheaper than a multi-piece cobblestone layout
• Number of colors and whether stain is applied on top of integral color
• Square footage
• Sealer spec (matte vs. high-gloss, single vs. double coat)
• Whether it's a new pour or an overlay on existing concrete
